Why should I vote? Why does my vote matter? Where and how can I vote and prepare for this voting season?

In this fast hour, we discussed these questions, including voter registration, disinformation, voter anxiety, and much more.  Joinoining were these leading young women –  our guest speaker Margaux Granath of New Voters along with 100RW Interns as they share their research, knowledge, perspectives, and experiences to help make our voting season the most effective and informative and to keep everyone’s voice alive. As this presidential election approaches, we want to prepare you to use your voice and vote for your choice! Bring a friend and vote!.

Margaux graduated from the University of Minnesota, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in political science. As an undergraduate, she led First Amendment reforms on campus and assisted in research on threats to civil liberties. She joins New Voters with half a decade of event management, outreach, and youth development experience. Previously, Margaux worked on camp staff at Girl Scouts of Alaska and Girl Scouts of Montana & Wyoming, and at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression. Margaux is based in Denver, Colorado where enjoys boxing, cooking, and creating her own board games. She is looking forward to supporting New Voters in its efforts to mobilize a generation of students to vote!

Kenia Magana - Intern - CSU Stanislaus

Kenia was born in San Bernadino, California, and grew up in Modesto, California. She will be a senior this fall at California State University Stanislaus, majoring in Sociology with a human resource concentration and a psychology minor. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, listening to music, and playing with her pets. Some of her hobbies include playing the piano and dancing.

Allison Dornseif - Intern - UM MOrris

Allison grew up in Hector, MN, and is now from Crosslake, MN. After high school, she went to Central Lakes College where she graduated with her Associate of Arts in May 2023. She is now at the University of Minnesota Morris, where she is currently a junior. She is a double major in psychology and human services with a minor in communication, media, and rhetoric. Allison enjoys playing volleyball, reading, baking, watching tv shows and movies, and spending time with her friends and family.

Claudia Perez- Suarez - Intern - CSU Stanislaus

Claudia was born and raised in Stockton, California. She is currently a Senior at California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock, California. She is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services and a Psychology minor. After graduating this Fall, she plans to attend Graduate School. Claudia enjoys spending time with family, going on hikes, baking, and reading.

Chloe Contreras - Intern - CSU Stanislaus

Chloe was born Bend, Oregon, and raised in Merced, California. She is currently a senior at California State University, Stanislaus, pursuing a degree in Sociology with a concentration on Criminology and Society. She loves spending time with her family and has a fondness for musicals and live theater. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, drawing, binge watching shows, and playing co-op video games with her siblings.
