About The Episode
In this episode, Teresa partners with Heidi Holtan of KAXE, northern Minnesota’s community radio station, as part of KAXE’s *Communities We Call Home* series. In this historic election year for women in Minnesota, KAXE and 100 Rural Women have reached out to the four major-party women candidates for U.S. Senate and governor, with plans to interview each candidate.
Our first interview is with U.S. Senate candidate and current Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. Peggy reflects on the women who have influenced her life and shares her vision for rural communities. She discusses Minnesota’s healthcare challenges, the importance of working across the aisle to develop community-driven solutions, and the potential she sees in rural Minnesota.
Together, KAXE and 100 Rural Women are creating space for candidates to share more than their campaign platforms. These conversations explore the people and places that have shaped them, how they see rural Minnesota, and what they envision for the future of the communities we call home.
We have reached out to all four campaigns and will release interviews as they are recorded.
“When folks try to get us to turn on each other, we turn towards each other. I think that’s a pretty important Minnesota value and why I love living here.”
