Julie Rosen is a Minnesota State Senator representing District 23, which includes the cities of Fairmont, Blue Earth, and surrounding communities in Martin, Jackson, Le Sueur, Waseca, Watonwan, and Faribault counties. Originally from Colorado, Senator Rosen attended Colorado State University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy, she worked as a marketing representative for both Elanco and American Hoechst Chemical Company.

A veteran Senator, Rosen has served her community since she was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2002. For the first nine years, she represented District 24 in Minnesota. But later, in 2012, Rosen became the representative of District 23 where she will remain until she retires. In fact, Senator Rosen announced at the beginning of 2022 that she will not be running for re-election. Thus, she will retire at the end of her current term.

Senator Rosen has been actively involved in various issues throughout her legislative career. Currently, she holds the Chair position in the Senate Finance Committee. Further, Rosen has dedicated her career to combating drug use among children and adults and improving health care. She has been noted as “a strong voice for rural Minnesota,” as she has a strong background in agriculture.

This network provides a coordinated method for aspiring leaders to make the person-to-person connections that give access to resources that are valuable to enduring success. At 100 Rural Women, we find that success in recruiting more rural women to serve in public service leadership roles is essential to keeping our democracy strong.
