What is it?

Mentorship Networks

At 100 Rural Women, we see a future where more women lead. Mentorship was a key theme in the 100 Meetings we just completed in our “100 in 100” project.  Through mentorship networks, women can have access to the support and guidance they desire to advance them toward leadership roles.

LEADERSHIP

Women in a variety of positions who are making a difference in their communities through their experience as leaders.

MENTORSHIP

Circular learning process to expand understanding, develop deeper relationships and support each other.

CONNECTION

Connect with mentors and mentees to expand your network of strong women leaders.

100 Rural Women Mentorship Networks

100 in 100 Project – common theme was “Mentorship”

The 100 in 100 Project was a year-long project conducted 2021 to 2022. For this project, 100 Rural Women virtually traveled all around Minnesota to meet with various women. This project’s goal was to ignite action in community, leadership, civic engagement, and rural entrepreneurship, while simultaneously identifying opportunities and connecting women with each other. Through the 100 in 100 Project, our organization identified the need for more support and mentorship opportunities for women who want to pursue leadership positions.

Findings from the 100 in 100 Project

Community

The lack of authentic spaces to connect with rural women in similar leadership roles or life circumstances.

opportunities

The availability of pathways and positions into leadership roles, no matter the size via in person and virtual offerings.

peer support

The need for public and private leadership affirmations of rural women from those closest to them.

These findings helped inform the creation of 100 Rural Women’s various mentorship networks.

Humphrey School of Public Affairs Capstone Project

The Humphrey School of Public Affairs Capstone Project focused on leadership and mentorship opportunities for women. Specifically, how 100 Rural Women can utilize the leadership knowledge of women who are currently or were previously in public service positions to support women to seek elected offices. From this project, our graduate students and the organization learned what types of mentorship activities would be beneficial and encourage more women to lead.
