DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, May 15th\, from 12:00- 1:00 PM CST \nRegister here!  \n100 Rural Women is co-hosting a virtual event with Dovetail in support of their recently released video\, Rooted in the Future. This video was developed in collaboration with many partners\, including SFI\, to support the importance of landowner action around forest health and wildfire resiliency in Minnesota. \nDovetail Partners is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation providing authoritative information about the impacts and trade-offs of environmental management\, including consumption of choices\, land use decisions\, and policy alternatives. Dovetail provides a highly skilled team that fosters sustainability and responsible behaviors through collaboration to develop unique concepts\, systems\, models\, and programs. Dovetail also serves as the Fire Adapted Communities hub coordinator for the Upper Midwest and is involved in assisting with community-driven wildfire reduction efforts in the region. \nLearn more here!

Join us on May 16th to learn about the four key initiatives of the Minnesota Youth Council (MYC) and the work they have done this legislative session in pursuit of a just and equitable Minnesota. \nThe MYC envisions a state that prioritizes the agency and voice of young people from all backgrounds. The MYC is a collaborative of youth leaders that works to amplify the voice and power of their peers across the state of Minnesota. These young leaders are the go-to group in Minnesota for elevating and championing youth voice in decision-making. Members of the MYC are change agents in their communities and across the state\, leading the way with youth-centered systems change. The Council is comprised of 8th-12th graders representing each congressional district in Minnesota and provides guidance to the legislature\, governor\, and Department of Education on issues affecting young people.

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to our Civic Mentorship Network “Learn About It” meetings!\nCounty Commissioners: Sheila Kiscaden and Tarryl Clark\nWomen belong in leadership positions\, including you. We at 100 Rural Women want to join you in your journey as you pursue public service positions. Specifically\, providing you with the necessary resources for support. And the most valuable resources are the very women who are making a difference in their communities. Thus\, at these meetings\, women from various public service backgrounds will discuss their paths to leadership and the barriers they’ve overcome. Our goal is to facilitate a mentorship environment that provides you with encouragement and support in your own leadership journey. \n  \nTarryl Clark\nTarryl Clark is an experienced public official\, formally working with Minnesota State Senators from District 15. At current\, she serves as a county commissioner for the First District of Minnesota. Clark is active on a variety of boards and committees as a part of her position. Considering her prior involvement in family and children’s programs\, it’s no surprise that she continues to work in those areas. Namely\, the Coalition Advancing Healthy Families Joint Powers Board. Besides that\, Clark also works on boards and committees focused on issues like human services and invasive aquatic species. \nSheila Kiscaden\nAlso a former Minnesota State Senator (District 30)\, Sheila Kiscaden has many years of experience in public service. Presently\, she is on the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners. In view of her prior experience as a Senator\, her policy interest and expertise have led to her serving on a variety of state commissions and task forces. Thus\, at these meetings\, women from various public service backgrounds will discuss their paths to leadership and the barriers they’ve overcome. Our goal is to facilitate a mentorship environment that provides you with encouragement and support in your own leadership journey. \n  \nWe will be hosting Heidi Heitkamp on Thursday\, September 15th at 7 AM CT. Heidi is a former U.S. Senator and State Attorney General. Heidi actively serves as a champion for the North Dakotan people. As the Attorney General\, she is remembered for her leadership in the state’s legal efforts to seek damages from tobacco companies. In a similar fashion\, Heidi tackled a number of welfare issues as a U.S. Senator. These issues include but are not limited to affordable health care and human trafficking. Now that Heidi no longer serves in the U.S. Senate or as Attorney General\, she focuses a lot of her attention on the One Country Project.
